How to best suppress rage?

Got my first ding today, barely 11 days old. Clear as day, right on the right rear quarter panel.

What really sucks is that I deliberately haven't taken it to anywhere very "public" yet except work and lunch (and at lunch yesterday I parked in a spot that didn't allow anyone to park on my right side). I suspect it was my neighbor in my apartment complex, but I obviously can't prove it. argh! it's gonna be tough to focus on work today...total bummer.

Of course it would have happened eventually, but I didn't think it would be so soon! I know the people who have been in accidents would probably scoff at me, but I'm still p.o'ed. argh! Not only that, I have my appointment at the DMV today (which could become a traumatic experience itself) to pay the taxes and attempt to get it registered properly.

Not even registered yet and already dinged  now I'm going to have to see that thing every day until I finally break down and get it fixed, although at this point, I might as well wait until I get a couple more now. fudge!

getting the dent out

If you really want to get the dent out of your new baby, then check out a company like dent wizard. There are several different companies that can take the dent's out for low cost. This would help you feel better as the car is so new. Dent wizard charged me approx. $90 to remove two dents on the same panel on my previous car.

Hope this helps.:indi:

Don't kid yourself this SUCKS!!! Many of us have gone through the "stages" of rage and now its your turn. Eventually you will find some peace that you can now be a bit less protective, and take the MINI to more places. I never got my ding fixed and every now and then I focus on it again, and the rage fantasies rewind and play. Dent wizard was going to be around $100, I was going to do it, but then I figured I would go through all this anguish over again, the next time. Yep it sucks, there is no way around it, but it will happen, and if it already has, it will probally happen again. Everyone else just will never care as much as we do, you're not alone. :( :)

Not 24 hours after picking up my car I have to take my wife and her parents to dinner and of course they all want to go in the new car. I park in the parking lot of the restaurant and then we have to wait for a table. Other people are also waiting for a tables and I notice that the person who parked next to me is waiting as well. They are sitting in there car smoking and someone they are with is standing next to their car talking. Of course this country hick dressed in overalls decides to lean against my car. I shout 'Hey, do you mind not leaning against my car'. His reply....'Oh'.

This was in May of 2002 so there was not many MINI's in my area considering that the nearest dealership at the time was 300 miles away.

How desrespectful. One time I was washing my Mini, and when I pulled it up on the driveway to dry it off, one of my dads patients stopped by and started talking to him, next thing you know he leans on my Mini!!! I was so mad, like can you see I'm drying it off!?! Sheesh!

Oh, do I know how you feel...
About 6 weeks into owning my MINI, someone, somehow scraped my front bumper by the fog lamp, about 6 in. long and down through all the paint. The only place it could have happened was at the grocery store. And no note about it of course.

That was about 2 mos. ago, and I still feel angry and also very sad. It seems like you just can't keep things nice.

GTMini - I don't blame you at all chum. but any anger is no good to anyone , least of all you becasue tyou can't prove anything...

If you could prove it you have my full permission to pee through his letterbox ( or put a dog poo in his mail box whatever you have that side of the pond..

Keep smiling through...

My sentiments exactly.

Rage is best saved for something where some loved one - and not (risking flames for total blasphemy) a piece of metal - gets hurt.

Spend a couple bucks, call the dent wizard, and think about what a better person you are than the moron who dinged your car and didn't have the decency to tell you and pay for it.

Thanks all,

I figure that I might just wait until more a-hole marks accumulate and then do a full body "freshening." It's right on/near the beltlne too...that's going to be seriously tough to get to and it's so visible. They couldn't have picked a better "bad" spot.

I hadn't planned on going after my neighbor or anything, but I'm going to be sure as hell to put every inch possible between my car and theirs. what's amazing is that there's already a ton of room and my space is on the uphill side. one of them (it's a couple, I think...they just moved in recently) has a nice pretty well kept Jetta and the other has a poorly kept Civic that has already rear ended someone/something and I was always a little nervous whenever the Civic was the one in the spot.

...at least the registration went smoothly today and I paid less tax & fees than expected. bad morning, fairly good evening...although I think I've been noticing the extra drag provided by the ding when zooming down the street. :)
