These prices are madness they only clean them out and send them back out as an exchange unit..They get clogged with the additive, remove the dpf and put a pressure wash in it untill the water runs clear...It will get you out of a jam... P.S Have heard to soak it in tar remover for an hour before pressure washing helps...

 

Another option, if the car is out of warranty, is to look at a DPF-deletion pipe instead. Will certainly cost less than £800 with the bonus that the car can be remapped at the same time to have more performance and better fuel consumption.

I managed to find a seller on eBay last night that sell DPFs, exhausts etc brand new.

Thankfully they have the Mini DPFs listed. Their price seems much cheaper than the dealers, and no exchange required.

Hi there, I'm a new member and haven't had much chance to chime in here, I hope I can help, my wife's 330D had a DPF light come on at about 60k miles, the dealer (it was still under warranty and service pack)who was looking after the car said it needed a new DPF, but according to our mechanic actually what they should have done was a regeneration cycle, this basically means they run the car for a certain revs in a certain gear, this should heat the DPF up to a certain level which will then self clean. I can check if it's the same for your engine.

The car does this cycle of regeneration every few hundred miles,but eventually they get clogged up with the additive, not the exhaust soot, which is what the regeneration removes. So the dpf has to be replaced with a exchange unit, the old units are sent back for cleaning, which takes a massive amount of water to flush them out, and thats why they are so expensive to exchange as cleaning these units aren't that easy to do. If done with a pressure washer it will take about 45 mins

 

my filter has just become blocked and the lights come on in the car. I normally drive very economically, which is probably why its becomed blocked but ive just realised that! I thrashed it down the motorway from bristol to bath (about 30mins driving each way) doing about 3000rpm but the light is still on.
Not really sure what to do, I called mini but the bimbo on the phone didnt have a clue what i was talking about!

My Dooper has around 140,000km and the DPF error message starts to pop up everytime I start. The performance of the engine is also a bit less than what it used to be (especially when overtaking). I guess the time has come for a new DPF...

I obtained some price quotes to get it professionally cleaned (there are a few companies who have machinery that clean it during a few hours, with high pressure), but these were similar to what I should pay if I get a genuine Peugeot or Citroen DPF (I saw some French forums where people told about replacing a Dooper DPF with a Citroen/Peugeot DPF since my Dooper is running on a PSA engine anyway). So I ordered a Citroen DPF from an overstock, and I will try to replace it myself (the only extra spare part needed seems to be an exhaust clamp of less than £10).

There is however one thing I want to know: is it necessary to reset the ECU after changing a DPF? (thus, not deleting the DPF!)
